There are those movies you can watch countless times and never tire of, and those which you don’t necessarily hate…but will never see again; The Great Wall is one of those films for me. The movie has entertainment value, that’s for sure, and the shots and designs (from costume to special effects) are done with skill. But outside some neat ideas, the script falls short in so many ways, with sparse character moments that never feel genuine, and honestly some of the clunkiest dialogue ever uttered, sometimes made worse by Matt Damon’s senseless accent which I’m still trying to decide where it comes from.
